Tucked away in the secluded Owhanake Bay of the stunning Waiheke Island a short distance off the shores of Auckland city, Delamore Lodge offers the perfect destination for a tranquil retreat.

With new owners and under the new management of Capstone Hotel Management, Mandala Design was engaged to redesign just the Owners Villa perched on the top of the hills of the lodge grounds.

The original Delamore Lodge design as quoted “was inspired by the Mediterranean with a unique New Zealand flavour, this elegant and exclusive luxury lodge is designed in the shape of a traditional Maori fishhook (Matau) and is literally moulded into the hillside”.

The brief was to enhance the breath-taking location for the discerning guests who want to check out of their busy lives. Building on the Mediterranean theme the two-bedroom villa was remodelled with a Spanish feel. The spaces got a total makeover with new hard finishes, from floors, beautiful natural wallpapers on the walls to kitchen and bathrooms as well as all the furniture and soft furnishings all tapping into warm earthy tones to give it that warm luxurious feel.

The end result is a true escape just a short ferry trip from downtown Auckland.

The newly refurbished two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa has been aptly been launched as ‘Ataahua’ (meaning ‘beautiful’ in Maori) and voted as one of the 12 Best Luxury Hotels of New Zealand by Urban List
